The Education Leadership program is a nationally recognized program, ranked 19th among public universities, 20th overall in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Half of school administrators in our surrounding districts are Mason graduates.
Led by faculty with impressive backgrounds as researchers, entrepreneurs, and current and former superintendents and principals, the Education Leadership Program develops graduates who make a difference in education and policy at the community, school, district, state, and national levels. According to the Wallace Foundation, school leadership is second only to teaching among school-related influences on student success, and its impact is highest in schools with the greatest needs. More than half of all school administrators in Northern Virginia are Mason graduates. Since 2016, 13 alumni have been named finalists for the Washington Post’s Principal of the Year Award, including two winners.
