School of Education - George Mason University

Mentors are critical supports in guiding new teachers to enhance their planning, instruction, and content knowledge.

Mentor Teachers and Site Facilitators

Thank you for agreeing to host a Mason teacher candidate for their internship experience in your classroom or school. You play an integral role in preparing tomorrow’s educators and we appreciate your support of our teacher candidates!

Preparing for your Mason Teacher Candidate

The Teacher Track Office has developed an online series of modules for Mentoring Mason Teacher Candidates where new mentor teachers can review expectations for hosting a candidate, hone their supervising skills, and learn about Mason’s teacher education programs. The course concludes with the creation of a Teacher Candidate Tool Kit, a resource that will help welcome the teaching candidate into the mentor’s classroom.

Completion of the modules is highly recommended. It is a great way to prepare to welcome a Mason teacher candidate into your classroom. It is also a great way to earn recertification points toward your licensure renewal. Click here to get started with your training.
