School of Education - George Mason University

In 1990, the Virginia Department of Education entered into a unique partnership with George Mason University and the U.S. Department of State to provide highly trained, licensed teachers in critical shortage areas in K-12 schools overseas.

Hybrid courses include both online & face-to-face classes which run from the end of June to the end of July each summer. Students are eligible to stay in apartment housing on campus during the summer term. Alternative evening schedules are provided, with courses meeting face-to-face in Arlington, Virginia. The International Elementary track in the M.Ed. in Teaching Culturally Linguistically Diverse & Exceptional learners requires 18 months to earn the teaching license & 2 years to complete the M.Ed.
