Examines complexity of language and literacy development of diverse young learners. Emphasizes language acquisition, reading, and writing in prekindergarten and kindergarten contexts. Focuses on evidence-based assessment and instructional practices that promote prekindergarten and kindergarten children’s language and literacy development. Explores social, cultural, affective, cognitive, and educational factors that play a role in language acquisition and literacy learning. Note: Field experience required. Offered by School of Education. Limited to three attempts.
