School of Education - George Mason University

Elementary Education

Mason offers two programs that can lead to a career in elementary education. Our full-time elementary education program prepares graduates to teach in diverse elementary classrooms by immersing students in partner schools where classroom teachers and university faculty collaborate to prepare the next generation of educators. Our international elementary program is designed for students planning to take their teaching career overseas.

Both Elementary Education programs can lead to licensure to teach prekindergarten through sixth grade. The campus-based elementary education program is offered as an undergraduate major, an accelerated master’s, or a traditional master’s program. The international elementary program is offered only as a master’s degree and is completed online with an internship placement at an international school.

Degree Options: Undergraduate Major, Bachelor’s/Accelerated Master’s, Master’s Degree
