Dr. Jenice View won the Gracie Award for her 30 minute televised talk show Urban Education: Issues and Solutions. Dr. View, originator, executive producer and host of the show, says, "This episode of Urban Education describes the challenges and opportunities for linking young people, particularly young people of color, immigrant youth, and youth in low-resource schools with the wealth of historical resources offered by the Washington DC region. The new graduate certificate -- Teaching Historic Places with Diverse Populations -- is a response to the need described here. It is intended to offer to classroom teachers, Park Service Rangers, cultural tourism guides and others the pedagogical, theoretical, and practical resources for deepening the connection between historic places and new populations."
