National Board Graduate Credit Options
National Board Certification
National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education and provides numerous benefits to teachers, students and schools. It was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.
Recognized as the gold standard in teacher certification, the National Board believes higher standards for teachers means better learning for students.
Mason's College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) has maintained a long-standing partnership with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). This partnership rests on the belief that NBPTS' programs represent the highest quality professional development experiences for classroom teachers on a national level. A mission of the Division of Advanced Professional Teacher Development and International Education (APTDIE) in the CEHD is also to provide professional development to ensure that the nation's classrooms are taught by accomplished teachers.
Educators may select from among the following programs:
- NBCT Components
- Achievement through NB Status
- Service as a National Board Assessor
- Renewal of Achievement
